What data we collect
Analytics
We use Plausible to analyze usage of our website. The data we analyze is anonymous (it does not contain any personally identifiable data) and this data is processed anonymously and only accessed by our team members who need it.
Additionally, no cookies are used to track you, no IP addresses are saved, nor any other means of creepily following you. We have a legitimate interest in understanding how users interact with our website, pursuant to EU GDPR, Art. 6, 1(f).
Email Communications
If you choose to contact us via the email address provided on our site, we will collect your email address and any information you include in your message. We process this data solely on the basis of our legitimate interest to communicate with you and respond to your inquiry. We do not use this data for marketing purposes or share it with third parties. We retain this correspondence only for as long as necessary to fully address your inquiry, after which it is securely deleted, unless we have further legitimate interest or a legal obligation to retain it.
Waitlist signups
You may (voluntarily) sign yourself up to our waitlist. The only data we ask of you is your email address. The only purpose is to notify you when we launch, or to get in contact with you (if you so choose) to ask you for your ideas.
This disclosure of your email address is entirely voluntary, and you are asked to express consent for your data to be processed in accordance with this privacy policy.
This processing is based on your explicit consent, pursuant to EU GDPR, Art. 6, 1(a).
Data Processors
To serve this website to you, we use Scaleway (Scaleway SAS, based in France) as our cloud hosting provider.
When you visit our website, Scaleway processes basic network traffic data (such
as your IP address) to route the website to your device and maintain server
security. Standard server access logs may be retained temporarily (e.g., for up
to 30 days) to detect and prevent malicious activity. We have a Data Processing
Agreement (DPA) in place with them.
This data is processed based on our and Scaleway's legitimate interest in
maintaining the security, stability, and functionality of our website pursuant
to EU GDPR, Art. 6, 1(f).
We use Mailcoach as
the processor for the waitlist, to store email addresses and facilitate the
sending of
a) confirmation emails
b) the launch notice
To ensure GDPR compliance, we have signed a Data Processing Agreement with Mailcoach.
All data is stored and processed strictly within the EU/EEA.
Retention Periods
The email addresses provided in the waitlist signup will remain in Mailcoach's
database until the launch notification happens or until the user clicks on the
link in the emails sent that will delete their email address from Mailcoach's
database, whichever comes first.
In case that no launch happens, your data will be deleted on or before 30.
June 2027.
In the Data Processing Agreement signed with Mailcoach, they provide information that personal data (including email addresses) might still be present in database backups up to three days after deletion from their databases.
Your Rights
You have a right:
- to be informed: This document fulfills this right.
- of access: You may ask which data we have of you by contacting us using privacy@kothar.shop.
- to rectification: You may request updating your data by contacting us using privacy@kothar.shop.
- to erasure: You can delete your email address yourself by clicking the link in the email. Alternatively, contact us using privacy@kothar.shop.
- to restrict processing: We already do not keep data beyond what is necessary. If you have any questions, contact us using privacy@kothar.shop.
- to data portability: Because the only data we hold is your email address, requesting a copy of your data (your right of access) fulfills this right.
- to object: Because your email is only used for the waitlist, if you object, we will simply honor your right to erasure and remove you from the list.
- regarding automated decision-making: No automated decision-making is being employed in our platform.
Complaints
If you feel that your rights have been violated, you may file a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.

Security
We do not store your personal data from general website visits, and we use SSL/TLS (via HTTPS) to encrypt all data in transport (= on the way from your device to our servers), which is industry standard.
The data stored in Mailcoach is pursuant to their commitment to security, which is governed by the Data Processing Agreement we signed. In short, they commit to take the appropriate technical and organizational measure to secure the personal data.
Access to the lists storing the signed up email addresses on our side will be limited to those members of our team that require access.
Any additional email correspondence is stored securely with restricted access.
Cookies
We do not store any cookies in your browser.
